                     666 caratteri. Le Diaboliche Recensioni

Uncertainties. Volume III, a cura di Lynda E. Rucker, The Swan River Press, Dublin, 2018, pp. 212

Uncertainties is the title of a series of anthologies published since 2016 by the Irish Swan River Press. They collect stories that explore the idea of a more and more fragmented sense of reality. The third volume edited by Lynda E. Rucker contains twelve stories which search for the subtle happening of something unlikely to be rationally explained. «These uncertainties are not mere oddities; rather, they often act as reflections, or expressions, of long-buried fears and desires, of regrets and sorrow». Something very strange and indefinable stalks many of the protagonists. As in Robert Aickman’s strange stories best tradition, whose presence lingers on this whole collection, in these tales there is a thin line between real and unreal and you can’t be sure when this line is crossed.
